Young people will protect the environment. The first International Student Ecology Congress was held at the University

About a hundred of students from Vinnytsya, Poltava, Cherkasy, Kremenchug, Sumy and Lviv higher educational institutions took part in the first International Student Congress, which is called «Environmental protection. Sustainable Nature Management» passed on the 15-16th of May at Lviv Lviv Polytechnic.

Vyacheslav Chornovil Institute of Ecology, Nature Protection and Tourism (IENP) of Lviv Polytechnic National University and Lviv Regional Organization of All-Ukrainian Environmental League held this project. Congress materials were included in the collected papers, which polytechnics had published before the event.

The Head of Lviv Regional Organization of All-Ukrainian Environmental League and Department of Ecology and Sustainable Nature Management Professor Miroslav Malovanyy opened the Congress.

The Head of IENP Professor Oleksandr Moroz, the Admission Board Director of Environmental Protection of Ukrainian Industrialists and Entrepreneurs League, General Director of «Argentum» State Enterprise Vasyl Sribnyy congratulated the conference participants, and the last noted that «at this conference you have to compare your opinions, find like-minded people and make a step towards building a rational, efficient society, and your actions should help to improve the environment in the future».

The student of Lviv Polytechnic Yuri Tulaydan started the «Priority environmental issues and the role of student in their solution» plenary session with the report about the prospects of the comprehensive reagent wastewater treatment of pig complex from ammonium ions and phosphorus. In general, young people spoke about the modern approach to automobile filters recycling, environmental and technological impact of shale gas on the environment, monitoring the quality of wastewater treatment etc.

As part of the congress in the laboratory of renewable energy worked three sections, which dealt with the problem of reducing human impact on the environment, the young people shared experiences and perspectives of theoretical and practical aspects of biodiversity conservation and innovative technologies in environmental activities.

— When we organizing this congress we aimed not only to attract students to scientific work, but also to the important today’s issue such as environmental protection, — said Oleksandr Moroz. — Abroad students did not arrive to Lviv because of known reasons, but they sent their reports. We plan to make these congresses annual and hope that many young scientists will participate.

At the end of the congress all participants were awarded with certificates.
